Progressive Freefall Red Deer

progressive freefall skydive red deer

In the Progressive Freefall (PFF) program a student skydiver jumps with one or two PFF Instructors from 9,500 feet or higher.

This will give you approximately 35 seconds of freefall to work on specific tasks that you and your own personal instructors have practiced on the ground before you have boarded the aircraft.

With the Progressive Freefall Program you do less jumps but experience full freefall right away.

You receive extensive ground instruction and communicate by hand signals in freefall. The instructors guide your body into position and help you find and pull your parachute ripcord.

Once your body is flying stable instructors release you and continue to freefall with you from a short distance away so you may use them as a reference for turns and mid-air maneuvering.

Please feel free to contact Skydive Red Deer directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding our safety record or any physical disability issues.

A prerequisite of taking the Progressive Freefall Course is that you must complete the First Jump Course and
Awareness Jump or two tandem jumps. Please note: If you are taking the two tandem route your first jump course is
free - Course Only.

Tailoring Your Progressive Freefall Program
Progression through the program is done in sequence. Progression with some tailoring is allowed to benefit the student. Examples of tailoring are:

  • At Level 1 & 2, a TPCT may be added in Level 2 if problems arise on Level 1
  • A student on PFF 2:1s may crossover to the GFF program at 20 second delays and work on turns
  • If a student has done one Tandem jump, they must complete a FJC and do at least 1 IAD prior to PFF Level 1
  • At a drop zone that does Tandems and no IADs, the tandem student must take a FJC and do two tandems prior to
    PFF Level 1
  • The Tandem Accelerated Freefall program is one that has the student do 4 tandems and then enter the PFF program at the 1:1 level
  • A first jump PFF, that is not including IAD in the progression method, must do 3 2:1 jumps and 3 1:1 jumps
